Owners Comments

For over a decade I have called West Stafford home. This glorious village has a real community spirit with something for everyone. It even has it’s own website – go on check it out! Despite the tranquil setting, West Stafford is far from remote (just 2 miles out of town), and seated at the very top is this fantastic bungalow. Surrounded by gardens the home is private and wonderfully quiet . It has copious amounts of storage from the built in wardrobes and cupboards to the massive loft – which should you choose to convert into living space would give you far reaching views across the Piddle Valley. There is a sense of space and light that infuses every room, and the south facing back garden is no exception. I will miss so many things about this place: the beautiful apple trees, the gorgeous garden, my dream bathroom! And while I can’t take those with us the memories we made here will last a lifetime.

Environment

West Stafford is a particularly picturesque village, with a number of pretty period properties gathered around the church and the thatched public house, "The Wise Man". Thomas Hardy of course, was born within a mile or so of West Stafford at Bockhampton. In his novels, West Stafford is called Talbothayes and the local church is where the fictitious wedding of Tess to Angel Clare took place in Tess of the D'Urbervilles. To the far east of the parish lies Talbothays Lodge and cottages where Hardy's siblings, Mary, Henry and Kate lived. The village is ideal for exploring the local countryside, with appealing walks immediately close to hand. Situated approximately 2 miles East from Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, enjoys a very good range of amenities including supermarkets, cinema, mainline stations to London/Bristol, numerous bars and restaurants and well-regarded schools. The County Hospital is also located here.

Agents Comments

A very well proportioned detached bungalow in the pretty village of West Stafford. The property has a light and spacious feel with two generous double bedrooms, newly fitted bathroom and fully landscaped rear gardens. There is plenty of storage with both bedrooms offering fitted wardrobes and further storage to hallway. The generous size sitting room enjoys a working fireplace and in addition to the kitchen/breakfast is a large utility room with a range of wall and base units, 2 sink units and ample space for washing machine, tumble dryer and additional appliances. The spacious lobby offers side and rear access and further WC. A drive offers ample parking, and there is great potential to extend at the side of the utility room to create a double garage / workshop subject to planning permission.
